Nekhbet is the matron protector Goddess of ancient Upper Egypt and the city of Nekheb (modern El-Kab) She is most commonly depicted as a vulture hovering with her wings spread or as a vulture-headed woman wearing the White Crown of Upper Egypt. She is frequently paired with her sister Wadjet cobra goddess of Lower Egypt. Together, the “Two Ladies” as they are called represented a unified and divinely protected land.
